MATRICE is an EQUIPEX project in the context of National Research Agency’s « Investments for the Future ». It involves several partners, among whom are the Center of 20th Century Social History (Paris 1 Sorbonne University), INA (the National Audiovisual Institute), the Memorial de Caen, the Complex Systems Institute,… One of the goals of this project is to create a digital workplace that allows researchers to analyse a large corpus of audiovisual and audio documents. This platform aims at gathering several funds, but in the first place, it offers about 100.000 extracts from INA’s collections on WWII and 09/11.
Opsomai has been entrusted with the creation of this platform through a call for tenders. The Opsis Media platform of MATRICE project is currently at a testing stage and will be released in March 2014 in INA’s offices at the National French Library (BNF).
This platform relies on version 3.0 of Opsis Media to provide rich and efficient search tools thanks to Solr engine. The browsing through Ina’s 100,000 documents is largely facilitated by the use of various facets: release date, place, people, thematic, etc.
This project is also the opportunity for Opsomai to interface with sound transcription specialists CNRS LIMSI laboratory’s tools that are marketed by Vocapia. Indeed, the 100,000 extracts will be processed by LIMSI, and Opsomai has implemented an interface of bidirectional synchronisation between the videos and their transcriptions. As an example, it is now possible to enter a word in the search field and the system will find and highlight it in the transcription and position the cursor of the video player at the corresponding timeframe. Moreover, this interface provides an edition mode to modifiy LIMSI’s automatic transcriptions.
