The Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées opened for the 2018 university term its video and multimedia objects management and distribution platform designed by Opsomai.
Created in 2013, the Université de Toulouse Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées (UFTMiP) is a community of 17 higher education and research institutions. UFTMiP supports universities, Grandes Ecoles and research institutions by providing overall consistency to their different organizations and by pooling their activities and resources.
Opsomai's Opsis Media software has been integrated into the IT platform of each partner and interfaced with existing video capture devices. An Opsis Media plug-in has also been designed for the Moodle LMS (Learning Management System), so Moodle's users can browse the Opsis Media platform from Moodle and select audio files, images and videos to be integrated in the currently edited Mooc. Moreover, Opsis Media standard video player can now synchronize videos with slides and Web pages.
The 4-year deployment plan of the project defines 3 phases, each integrating new structures, new users and potentially new functionalities. The first version of the system is available to the structures since the beginning of the 2018 university term.
This shared media platform is hosted on UFTMiP’s private cloud and is connected to existing users directories (LDAP-CAS) so as to allow transparent access to all the project partners.
